EqcoLogic

EqcoLogic, a Belgian technology company, has developed equalizer and communications devices for a number of digital media and data applications; the core technology recovers high speed digital signals that have been degraded or attenuated over long cable lengths. TC Applied Technologies is EqcoLogic's distribution partner for professional audio and related markets throughout the world.

The EqcoLogic EQCO 400T allows FireWire data at S400 speeds (500Mb/s) to be transmitted up to 90m over low cost UTP (Cat 5/6) network cable. This compares with a transmission range limitation of [4.5m] on regular FireWire cable.

• Operates at 125 Mbps to 500 Mbps, fully adaptive
• Allows use of up to 100m [Cat5e or Cat6] UTP cable
• Power consumption up to 140 mW (14 mW in standby mode)

The Eqcologic EQCO 800SC single coax solution allows FireWire data to be transmitted over a single coax cable at speeds, today, of up to S800 (1 Gb/s). At the same time, the coax can also be used for power distribution. The benefits of the coax method are largely to do with intrinsically low sensitivity to electro-magnetic interference (EMI) and low EMI emissions to other devices. The EqcoLogic 1394b coax link architecture uses equalization and a number of straightforward discrete components to interface any 1394b PHY chip to a single coax cable.

• Operates from125 Mbps (S100) to 1 Gbps (S800), fully adaptive
• Range up to 70m (dependent on data-rate and cable loss)
• Power consumption 215 mW (< 20µW in standby)
